At CloudNC, we have significantly scaled our team by over 50% over the last 12 months. Our people make the difference, and all have contributed towards the successful launch of our product CAM Assist.
We are shining a light on some of our recent new starters who have joined our product team to share their motivations for joining CloudNC, and how they will impact our mission.
Geoff Brennan - Senior Product Manager
Why were you looking for a new opportunity, and what was important in your next role?
I was approached about the opportunity by Sam Bailey, a Talent Partner at CloudNC, which sparked my interest. My previous company lacked the vision and follow-through to achieve sustainable growth. Ideally, I was looking for a role where I could help an organisation deliver on a big, ambitious goal.
Tell me about your experience and how that will support us to achieve our mission?
My educational background is in Industrial Design, and I completed my Master’s work on the relationship of physical products to digital products. I have a strong background in the CNC industry, ranging from technical and sales support, to installation and training of CNC equipment and software globally. I also gained exposure to product management through the development of machinery and software for CNC foam carving systems and 3D scanning technology.
All of my experience, including that gained from outside of manufacturing, seems relevant to the work the Product team is doing at CloudNC, where I will be able to talk with our customers to not only get them up and running with CAM Assist, but to gather their feedback and loop their priorities back into the product. In turn, this will support product improvements and secure our position in the market.
What has surprised you the most since joining?
The most surprising thing about joining was how quickly I was able to jump in and contribute. Although it has been a while, my prior experience in CAM seems very fresh now and relevant to nearly every aspect of my role. Moreover, my product management knowledge and exposure have helped shape many of the discussions around the product backlog and prioritisation.
Tell me about your first few weeks at CloudNC
I have enjoyed meeting everyone, both in the office and the factory, and the support has been excellent. I feel like I fit right in, and have been able to contribute.
What are the advantages of joining a scale-up
In a scale-up, there is an awareness and focus on the mission, and a lot of the pieces are in play to accomplish the company’s goals, while at the same time there are a lot of problems that need to be solved and opportunities to contribute to the overall success.

What motivated you to join CloudNC?
I was intrigued from the beginning, the atmosphere at CloudNC is very transparent and dynamic, a place where I saw myself contributing my experience as well as continuing to grow and learn. My experience has been gained from a different industry, but CloudNC's focus on revolutionising the manufacturing process through advanced technology and automation greatly appealed to me.
What are you looking to achieve at CloudNC?
With my marketing experience, I will be focusing on driving brand awareness and generating leads, achieved through campaign management and customer acquisition, which ultimately support CloudNC to achieve its goals.
Tell me about your first few weeks at CloudNC?
I have had the opportunity to fully immerse myself in the culture and dynamics of the company — from taking part in team and product meetings to visiting our state-of-the-art manufacturing factory. I have gained valuable insights into how different departments collaborate, as well as familiarising myself with the company’s products and mission.

What have been your first impressions of CloudNC?
My first impressions of CloudNC have been extremely positive. The company has a vibrant and dynamic work culture. From day one, I have felt welcomed by my colleagues who are not only highly skilled but also supportive and approachable.

What were you looking for in your next opportunity?
I was looking for an organisation that challenged me and had the ambition to make a real difference. I wanted to work with like-minded people who want to deliver on making a big impact whilst having fun doing so.
Where do you see that you will be able to make an impact at CloudNC
Driving awareness of our product CAM Assist and the associated benefits it brings to the manufacturing industry. My focus is to grow our channels to support the adoption of CAM Assist and increase brand awareness.
What is your first priority?
My first priority is to understand our market, where do our customers ‘hang out’, how do they consume content, and what is their approach to finding and deploying technology? By answering these questions, we will be able to showcase our products and services in the most efficient and effective way.
What would you say are the characteristics of the team at CloudNC?
Passion - everyone I’ve spoken to has a clear passion for the product and the impact it can make, it’s infectious and brilliant to see!
What advice would you give to anyone looking to join CloudNC?
Ask plenty of questions and get a good grasp of the company’s mission.
